The hunting estate “Valle di Buriano”, 1200 acres of hilly land behind Castiglione della Pescaia, perpetuates the Maremma cultural and traditional phenomenon of wild boar hunting by organizing high-level driven days.
With total respect for the environment, the hunting rituals are held in the thick brush of the estate with the so-called “cacciarelle”, i.e. exclusive driven hunts for wild boar.
With the help of a local pack of hounds, the hunts are conducted from 20-25 watches called “palchetti” (high seats). For the hunters, we organize the traditional “rialto”, their accompaniment to the peg, the various phases of hunting and their return to the “hunting lodge” for lunch, for the preparation of the game and the trophies.
We can organize wild boar hunting from early September to mid-March, for a minimum of 7 to a maximum of 40 people. The hunt can be organized any day except Tuesdays and Fridays (days of hunting silence).
We can also organize “caccia alla cerca”, for one or two persons maximum. This special hunt is held in the deep woods. The hunter/hunters go with the guardian and the pack of hounds into the woods and search for wild boar.
After the day’s hunt, hunters return to Castello di Vicarello (45 minutes from Valle di Buriano). This12th-century castle, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves as well as beds of fragrant rosemary and lavender, is a true cornerstone of paradise. For the traveler with a unique and refined taste for passion, good food, wine and a sense of adventure, this is a destination where the informal becomes formal, and Tuscany is more Tuscan than ever.
With the same respect for the environment as Valle di Buriano, the Castello represents the true Tuscan style, both earthily local and open to the world.
Guests who choose to experience this exclusive destination can also fill their days with local wine tours and tastings, visiting Montalcino, Pienza, Siena, San Gimignano, Florence, as well as many other beautiful Tuscan destinations. Guests can also visit the workshops of traditional local artisans, take part in the famed traditional rides of Maremma, play golf (45 minutes from Vicarello), take part in boat rides and fishing on the Tuscan coast as well as many other activities based on the guests’ desires. They can also expect exquisite food and take cooking classes. Castello di Vicarello serves delicious, traditional Tuscan cuisine using only organic and local products, many of these coming from the castle’s own vegetable gardens and orchards.
